How SpeedLee handles information when you search, save and shop. Written to be readable, not legalistic.

Who we are

SpeedLee is a shopping search experience that helps you find fashion across participating retailers. SpeedLee is currently operated by its founder as an independent business trading as SpeedLee, and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

What SpeedLee collects

Account information

  • An internal account identifier created when you sign up
  • Your email address where it comes through the sign-in method you choose
  • Your first name or display name, if you give one
  • Who you're shopping for, if you set it
  • Clothing and shoe sizes you save
  • Favourite retailers you pick
  • Your chosen theme and personalisation preferences

Shopping and personalisation

  • Wishlist items you save
  • Wardrobe items you add, your Fashion Boards and which board a piece sits in
  • Wardrobe images you upload, stored privately
  • Filters you apply and products or retailers you interact with
  • Style signals we take from what you save and browse, where relevant

Usage and analytics

SpeedLee's own usage analytics may record things like:

  • A randomly generated session identifier
  • Your account identifier when you're signed in
  • Pages and features used
  • Searches you run
  • Products viewed or interacted with, including product identifiers and titles
  • Retailers involved
  • Feature interactions and relevant event details
  • Timestamps

The session identifier is a random value used to group activity in one browsing session. On its own it doesn't tell us who you are in the real world.

Affiliate and reward information

  • A random SpeedLee click reference created when you follow a retailer link
  • The product and retailer involved
  • The affiliate network involved
  • Transaction status and commission information reported back to us
  • SpeedCoins transaction records
  • Affiliate network transaction references

For normal affiliate attribution, SpeedLee does not need your payment-card details or your retailer checkout log-in details, and doesn't ask for them.

Reviews

  • Your rating and review text
  • The reviewer display name shown with it
  • An internal link to your account while it exists
  • Reports submitted about reviews

SpeedLee AI

When you use the SpeedLee personal shopper, your message and a limited amount of relevant context are processed to produce a reply. SpeedLee does not currently keep a permanent server-side history of those conversations.

Why SpeedLee uses information

  • Creating accounts and signing you in
  • Running search and the shopping features
  • Providing Wishlist and Wardrobe
  • Personalising what you're shown
  • Providing the SpeedLee AI personal shopper
  • Operating and securing the service
  • Understanding how SpeedLee is used
  • Improving features and the shopping experience
  • Affiliate attribution with retailers and networks
  • Tracking and validating SpeedCoins
  • Preventing abuse and fraud
  • Handling reviews and reports about them
  • Answering privacy and support requests
  • Meeting financial, accounting and legal obligations

Fashion research and market intelligence

SpeedLee analyses shopping and fashion-interaction information to understand demand, interests and trends — for example what people are searching for, how fashion interests change over time, which products and categories are in demand, which retailers get interest, and broader shopping trends.

Our longer-term aim is to build aggregated fashion-market intelligence from this. The goal is to make money from insight about fashion demand, not from people's identities.

Raw analytics records are kept for a limited period (currently 90 days). Before older raw records are removed, useful statistics are rolled up into a daily aggregated dataset that holds counts rather than individual shopper histories. Those daily aggregates currently cover things like event type, search term, product, retailer and top-level area of the app, with event counts, distinct session counts and signed-in session counts.

We apply safeguards designed to avoid exposing individual shoppers: labels linked to fewer than three sessions in a day are currently folded into an "(other)" bucket. No system can guarantee that aggregated data could never be re-identified under any circumstances, so we design and review the dataset with that risk in mind.

For beta, session-level analytics is used to operate, diagnose, measure and improve SpeedLee — not to sell identifiable shopper intelligence. There is no retailer-facing insights product today, and SpeedLee does not sell personal information. If a commercial fashion-intelligence product is ever built, it will be assessed separately before launch rather than quietly reusing identifiable or session-level analytics.

Our lawful bases

Different activities rely on different lawful bases under UK data-protection law. The exact basis depends on the purpose.

Contract, or steps you ask us to take

Where processing is genuinely needed to give you the account and features you've asked for — signing in, saving to Wishlist and Wardrobe, running your searches.

Legitimate interests

Where it's reasonable for us to operate, secure, understand and improve SpeedLee, prevent abuse and fraud, administer affiliate activity, and develop aggregated fashion-market intelligence. We weigh this against your rights and interests, and you can object (see your rights below).

Legal obligation

Where we genuinely have to keep or process information to meet legal, accounting or tax obligations.

Consent

Only where we actually ask for it. We haven't built a consent mechanism yet; if we introduce optional storage or tracking technology that requires consent, we'll ask you first and you'll be able to withdraw it.

Affiliate networks and retailers

SpeedLee works with participating retailers and with affiliate networks including Awin and Rakuten Advertising. If you follow certain retailer links and buy something that qualifies, SpeedLee may earn a commission.

For attribution we pass a random SpeedLee click reference rather than putting your SpeedLee account identifier into retailer affiliate links.

Retailers run their own checkout, payment, delivery, returns and retailer accounts. Their own privacy policies apply to information you give them directly, and SpeedLee doesn't control how they process it.

SpeedCoins

SpeedLee processes transaction and reward information to track and reconcile SpeedCoins. Purchases usually start as pending rewards; validation by the retailer or network can change their status, and cancellations, returns or declined transactions can reduce or remove them. Which purchases and retailers qualify can change.

If you delete your SpeedLee account, your SpeedCoins balance goes with it permanently and can't be restored.

Where we genuinely need to keep transaction records for reconciliation, disputes, fraud checks or accounting, we keep them in a minimised form: the link to your deleted account is removed and the record is marked as no longer being tied to an account. Those records still contain transaction and click references needed for reconciliation, so we don't describe them as completely anonymous.

SpeedLee Personal Shopper and AI

The SpeedLee Personal Shopper is powered by AI. Requests go from SpeedLee's server through the Lovable AI Gateway to Google's Gemini models, so external AI infrastructure is involved in producing a reply.

Depending on your request, and on whether you're signed in, SpeedLee may use information such as:

  • Your message
  • Recent conversation context from the same session
  • Sizes you've saved
  • Who you're shopping for
  • Your favourite retailers
  • Relevant Wardrobe product information
  • Relevant Fashion Board information
  • A budget you've mentioned
  • Relevant product information for a piece you're asking about
  • Relevant shopping or trend context

Not all of this is used every time — SpeedLee limits what it sends to the information that's relevant to the shopping request in front of it.

What isn't sent

In the current setup, the request sent for AI processing does not include your email address, your display name, your SpeedLee account identifier, your sign-in token or your uploaded Wardrobe image files. SpeedLee doesn't currently keep a permanent server-side record of your Personal Shopper conversations.

Why preferences are used

If you're signed in, SpeedLee can use shopping preferences you've chosen — such as your sizes, favourite stores and items in your Wardrobe — when they're relevant to your request. That's what makes recommendations fit you rather than being generic.

Provider retention and training

AI processing happens on infrastructure operated by other companies. We can't truthfully promise that those providers never retain anything, never use information to improve their own systems, or that Personal Shopper requests never leave the UK. Where their terms limit retention or training, that's a matter of the contracts between SpeedLee and those providers.

Please don't include sensitive personal information in messages to SpeedLee.

Automated recommendations

SpeedLee uses automated systems to help you discover fashion, rank search results, build outfit ideas and receive shopping recommendations.

These are shopping suggestions. They aren't decisions that produce legal effects about you or similarly significantly affect you — they don't decide credit, employment, insurance, pricing eligibility or access to any service.

Other service providers

  • Supabase — authentication, database and private Wardrobe storage
  • Lovable — application hosting, infrastructure and the AI gateway
  • Google — AI processing through Gemini, and optional Google sign-in
  • Apple — optional Apple sign-in
  • Awin — affiliate attribution
  • Rakuten Advertising — affiliate attribution
  • Participating retailers — where you shop and buy

Depending on their role, these providers may process information on SpeedLee's behalf or act independently as their own controller.

International processing

Some of these providers, or the infrastructure they use, may process information outside the UK. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for a restricted international transfer, appropriate safeguards are used where required. The exact mechanism depends on the provider and their current terms.

Browser storage, cookies and similar technologies

SpeedLee stores a small amount of information in your browser. We're not claiming SpeedLee uses no cookies or similar technologies — it does, for these purposes:

  • Keeping you signed in, and holding temporary sign-in state while you authenticate
  • Holding a guest Wishlist before you have an account
  • Remembering whether you've seen the welcome screen
  • Remembering your chosen theme and SpeedLee Radio preference
  • A random, tab-scoped session identifier used to group usage analytics for one browsing session
  • Remembering whether you've turned usage analytics off

SpeedLee's analytics is first party and statistical: it's used to understand how SpeedLee is used, diagnose problems, measure how features perform, improve search and shopping functionality, and improve the experience. SpeedLee currently doesn't use third-party analytics, third-party advertising pixels or device fingerprinting.

You can turn non-essential usage analytics off at any time, free of charge, in Privacy & data. Turning it off doesn't limit any SpeedLee feature — sign-in, search, saves, Wardrobe, Fashion Boards, the Personal Shopper, retailer links and SpeedCoins all keep working. Storage that's strictly necessary to sign you in and run the features you ask for stays in place.

How long we keep things

  • Raw analytics: 90 days. Useful statistics may be aggregated first, then older raw events are removed.
  • Account and profile: generally while your account is active, subject to deletion and any records we legitimately need to keep.
  • Wishlist: until you remove the item or delete your account.
  • Wardrobe items: until you remove them or delete your account.
  • Uploaded Wardrobe images: until the item is removed or the account is deleted, allowing for deletion processing.
  • AI chat: no permanent server-side conversation history is currently kept by SpeedLee.
  • Affiliate, SpeedCoins and financial records: may be kept longer where genuinely needed for reconciliation, disputes, fraud prevention, accounting or legal obligations.

We aim not to keep information that identifies you for longer than we need it for the purpose it was collected.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Profile → Privacy & data → Delete my account. You'll be asked to confirm before anything happens.

Deletion removes:

  • Your profile and saved preferences
  • Your Wishlist
  • Your Wardrobe items
  • Wardrobe images you uploaded
  • Your sign-in account

Reviews you've written may stay published in anonymised form so the community and moderation history stay intact. Financial and reconciliation records may be kept in minimised form where necessary.

Deleting your account will permanently remove your SpeedCoins balance and you won't be able to recover it.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal information
  • Ask us to correct information that's wrong
  • Ask us to delete information
  • Ask us to restrict how we use it
  • Object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
  • Ask for portability of information you gave us
  • Withdraw consent, where we rely on consent
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

Which rights apply depends on the circumstances and the lawful basis involved. There's no automated data-export button in the app yet — email shopspeedlee@gmail.com and we'll handle your request.

Age

SpeedLee is designed for people aged 16 and over. SpeedLee doesn't ask for your date of birth and doesn't run age verification.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. These include authenticated access, access controls that scope data to the individual user, private storage for Wardrobe images with time-limited signed links, server-side handling of sensitive credentials, and restricted access to administrative data.

No online service can promise perfect security, so we won't claim your information is completely secure. If you think something's wrong, tell us at shopspeedlee@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

SpeedLee is still developing, so this policy will be updated as features change. If we make a material change, we'll communicate it in an appropriate way. The date at the top always shows the current version.
